What is Chairside Whitening?

Chairside Whitening is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin.

How long does Chairside Whitening take?

The complete procedure takes less than an hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed as little as by 45 minutes of bleaching. A cleaning is recommended prior to the actual whitening session for optimal results.

How does Chairside Whitening work?

A light is used to activate gel placed on your teeth. This gel's active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, and as the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while leaving the tooth structure unchanged. This method of teeth whitening has excellent results and on average, a person's teeth is improved by up eight shades.

How long do the results last?

By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasional bleaching tray touch-ups.

What causes tooth discoloration?

There are many causes of tooth discoloration. The most common are aging and high consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, red wine, etc. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also contribute to tooth discoloration.

Does Chairside Whitening have any side effects?

Some patients may experience a slight degree of sensitivity during the treatment. This is caused by the minimal amount of heat generated by the Chairside light. On rare occasions, patients have reported experiencing a temporary minor tingling immediately after treatment. If you are prone to teeth sensitivity, we can supply you with anti-sensitivity toothpaste prior to treatment
